From the British Library, a great site for any lover of language. It includes an interactive map with audio clips sampling accent and dialect around the UK, along with points of interest for each. Similarly, the BBC also offers a great interactive site, Voices, which includes audio clips, quizzes, and a “wordmap”.

I love languages. I’m fascinated by etymology. This site prompts you to guess the meaning of a word, and for each correct word rice is donated through the United Nations. This can be very addictive (“I’ll just try one more word… just one more…”) and make you feel good at the same time.
